📖1.21.5 Enchantment Changes
🔧System
Many Runecrafted enchantments have been reworked, updated, or removed.
There are 5 new enchantments which we're revealing immediately ↓
There are 8 new curses which can be received from failed Runecrafts. These replace our previous 2 custom curses, and are mostly for fun, but some have potential use cases. These aren't listed here, but they (and the two vanilla curses) are viewable in the Lexicon for reference.
Some enchantment recipes have been updated to more modern standards.
🎉New
Ground Pound:
Replaces Feather Falling V. Reduces fall damage and allows double sneaking while airborne to slam down and deal radial damage. Exclusive with Feather Falling & Rocket Boosting.
Ragdoll:
Replaces Knockback III. Killing blows deals 3x knockback ignoring knockback resistance. Enemies hit by their body are stunned. Exclusive with Knockback.
Riposte:
Replaces Kinetic Battery. After a parry, your next attack automatically critically strikes.
Wire Cutters:
Port of Blast Protection V, which is reworked. Shears enchant which allows shearing explosive entities to “defuse” them. Exclusive with Mitosis & Tithing.
Kaleidoscope:
Now a spyglass enchant instead of a charm.
✨Reworked
All Chestplate "Aspects" have been renamed to “Avatars”, e.g. “Aspect of the Shulker” is now “Avatar of Shulkers”. This differentiates them from the DoT Aspects, and subjectively we feel it sounds cooler.
Battering Ram:
Bash (double block) to rapidly dash forward, pushing and stunning enemies you collide with.
Blast Protection:
Defuse mechanic replaced with an Absorption “blast shield” upon taking blast damage, granting knockback immunity and damage reduction while it holds.
Executioner:
Now a 1-level Looting mutual. Executes below 5% health and grants +200% head drop rates.
Fencing:
After attacking, you can double-tap a movement key to hop invulnerably in that direction.
Frost Walker:
Removed Runecrafted level III. Innately buffed to grant bonus speed on ice and snow blocks and convert powder snow to regular snow.
Hot Rod:
Sears some caught fish, doubling their restored hunger and sell price, and allows lava fishing for 2x sear chance.
Paradigm of Lust:
Enemies targeting a spouse are scorned, allowing you to leap strike them from afar, but if a spouse dies in combat, you wither away unless you enact reckless vengeance against their killer.
Paradigm of Greed:
You can form lifelong contracts with humanoid mobs using raw gold, but if ever you don't re-up a contractor, they betray you.
Paradigm of Sloth:
You can lumber, moving slower and gaining slow, massive attacks, but lumbering replaces sprinting.
Shockwave:
Renamed to Undertow. Now releases a radial wave from you which pushes away enemies.
Singularity:
Renamed to Snare. Now releases ropes which pull enemies towards the impact point.
Skewering:
Attacks gain range and pierce in a 3-prong cone, and throws bypass shields and pierce enemies. Pierced enemies are slowed.
Utility Belt:
Grants leggings a belt, a 9-slot item inventory. Shift right clicking them swaps the contents of their belt and your hotbar.

Replaced by the Valor Mark of the Cult.
Sapiovore:
Replaced by the Valor R.E.D. armor.

We're not fond of single-target DPS enchants competing with AoE ones.

💎1.21.5 Valor Shop Changes

We hope this helps introduce new players to the Valor system.
You can now use /valor in-game to view the various Valor armor, relics, charms, and services.
🛡️Armor Sets
The Valor Armors have had a full reshape. The following sets are now offered.
All armor sets now give Diamond tier stats by default, but like before cannot be upgraded to Netherite tier.
Note that the Salamander, Deep Sea, Huntsman, and Strongman sets have been removed, though some find spiritual successors among this list.
⛏️Abyssal

🌟Relics
“Relics” are how we’ll refer to the unique non-armor Valor items going forward.
Relics must now be upgraded from an item of their type (e.g. an Elytra is required to purchase Iron Cicada Wings).
Most relic weaponry now gains its behavior from a mythical enchantment.
Mythical enchantments compete with a normal enchantment group, and are denoted by a 🌟 symbol.
We hope mythical enchantments feel cool thematically while giving room for unique relics that don’t power creep their competitors.
✨New Relics
🐍Chimaera
Versatile and deadly, for those willing to commit.
Chimaera is a hybrid bow which can split into or reform from two swords. It's back!
Lion's Claw and Goat's Horn, the swords, apply a mark which the bow's strikes redeem to apply venom, a rapid poison which heals you.
Serpent's Fang, the bow, applies a mark which the swords' strikes redeem for 2x damage or 2x knockback and a stun, respectively.
If you like mid-range skirmishing and making fast-paced combat decisions, this relic may be for you!
🐺Cerberus
The last thing they'll ever see.
Cerberus is a hybrid crossbow, which can morph to or from an iron axe.
Hellhound's Maw, the crossbow, has the mythical spread enchantment Tartarean Hellhound🌟:
Tartarean Hellhound: Loaded projectiles fire with lower base damage but in a tight, rapid volley.
Hellhound's Fang, the axe, triples the projectiles loaded in the crossbow on every 3rd attack, up to 27 after 9 hits.
If you like ramping into explosive, shotgunning damage, this relic may be for you!
🏹I.R.I.D.E.S.C.E.N.T.
(Incorporating or Repulsive Inter-Dimensional Energy and Storage Conduit with Enclosed Natural Terrarium)
Turn the beauty of the void against them.
A bow with the mythical ammo enchantment Tesseract🌟:
Tesseract: While drawn, the bow pulls items to you and small mobs and projectiles into its tesseract, releasing the first stored entity, or a weaker energy shot if no ammo available, once fired.
If you enjoy using unique utility items to your advantage, this relic may be for you!
🌩️Supercell
Forged to calm the tides of war.
A mace with the mythical radial enchantment Ragnarok🌟:
Ragnarok: Right click to float and charge a mace throw, after which you slam down to the mace, stunning in a radius and gaining chain lightning damage for a few attacks.
If you simply like feeling epic and powerful, try this relic!
🕸️Orbweaver
Tricky, but once you get the hang of it...
Sister to the Grasshopper! Right click to fire a web shot. If it hits a block, you're pulled towards it. If it hits a mob, it's pulled towards you.

If you like measured, precise, and consistent archery gameplay, try the updated Karru'Val!
📖Runic Tome (Reworked!)
An ancient aura emanates from it.
Now has a 5-slot rune inventory. Right-click an inserted rune to select it.
Most spells have been adjusted, most notably:
Aegis: Reworked. Forms 3 orbiting shields which each fully block 1 hit.
Chills: Now fires a projectile, casting where it lands.
Cinders: Now lasts longer, is stronger, and cuts healing, but costs more.
Gusts: Reworked. Forms a wind wall which first deflects then destroys projectiles.
Kinesis: Reworked. Forms a gravity well, then launches all pulled targets in the direction you're looking.
Mortus: Reworked. Releases a wave of death which plagues and marks enemies to take bonus damage from your next spell.
Stones: Now visually encases targets in blocks and stuns them.
Tides: Reworked. Releases a tidal wave which wets block and pushes targets.
These changes should help the Runic Tome compete as a primary accessory or even weapon for more players.
If you like flexible spellslinger gameplay, try the updated Runic Tome!
🚽Portable Hole
Surprisingly weighty
Slightly increased radius.
Now works in the main survival worlds. For safety, regardless of world, it only affects breakable blocks that aren't tile entities or protected with Bolt.
❌Removed Relics
The Bear Taming skill book is removed, in favor of new, more expansive Taming Guides⬆️.
The Unarmed Stance skill books are removed, in favor of the R.E.D. armor, which more cohesively enhances unarmed combat.
The Heavy Shield has been removed in favor of the new shield bash and parry mechanics.
🛎️New Services
😈Mark of the Cult
Replaces Rune Scented. Once purchased, grants the same effect as Rune Scented passively without needing a specific chestplate equipped.
⛏️1.21.5 Gameplay Changes
🪄Rune Locales
The Great Runic Shift has fully transformed the following locales:
💨Gusts: New locale - Aethryn, the Helm of Terados. Floating islands holding an old observatory. Once used for navigation, now only the Breezes call it home.
💎Stones: New locale - Ruit, the Shimmering Grotto. A cave of geodes beneath a giant tree, with magical waters that empower the Silverfish within.
🐝Vitality: New locale - Thriaechor, the Amber Eaves. The bees in this canopy of the great tree above Ruit do not take kindly to visitors!
The following locales are also affected by the Runic Shift:
❄️Chills: Now housed in Skatheim, the Winter Bastion (previously the Mortus locale).
🔥Cinders: Now home to Blazes instead of Wither Skeletons.
💀Mortus: Now housed in Arkose, the Crimson Crypt (previously the Stones locale).
Additionally, the following changes are applied to all locales:
The base rune drop rate is increased from 3% to 5%.
The most difficult and frustrating locales have been toned down - lower stats, shorter levitation from Kuiper shulkers, and no Thorns on the Mystic Grove witches.
In exchange for the above, some locales have more spawners to make them harder to cheese.
Also note the Extinction changes in the Enchantments changelog, which reduces the ease of farming runes late game.
We hope this combines to make farming runes more enjoyable and less polarizing.
✨Luck
Now affects many areas of gameplay:
Increases the odds of high-value rolls from Bottom Feeder, Schrödinger’s Thumb, the boardwalk claw machine, and the Tip Jar charm.
Increases the activation odds of Hot Rod, Hands-On Learning, the Juniper Sprig charm, and the Runic Compass charm.
Increases the average drop count from Trawling, Tithing, Cultist bosses, and the Opulence Runic Tome spell.
Increases the chance of Rune and Gem drops in survival worlds and duping the Shiny Gold Coin.
Reduces the odds of hostile mob heads during whack-a-staff.
Increases the drop rate of heads. (This isn’t new, but stating it for visibility)
Increases the quality of fishing loot. (This is vanilla, but stating it for visibility)
💎Socketing
A new Gem of Favor has been added, granting +0.25 Luck per gem. These can be obtained in the same way as all standard stat gems.
Armor now only has 4 sockets. Gems are not buffed to compensate - this is an intentional nerf to give room for power in more interesting areas.
🔱Tridents
Can now be crafted using 3 Twinkling Sea Crystals, 1 Nautilus Shell, and 1 Prismarine Shard.
Riptide is now more compatible with other trident enchants, including Runecrafted ones, and so is now only exclusive with Loyalty.
Note that Loyalty tridents are already buffed to return if they fall into the void and generally return faster.
🛡️Shields
Shields can now parry by blocking <=0.3 seconds before a strike. Parrying an attack stuns the attacker, while parrying a projectile reflects it.
Shields can now bash by quickly double blocking, pushes enemies away in a radius in front of you.
Axe attacks now only disable shields for 1.6 seconds rather than 5.
We intend these changes to make shields more considerable as a primary accessory into the late game.
📝Miscellaneous
Applying splash or lingering potions to targets other than yourself now grants mcMMO Alchemy experience.
Projectiles now bypass invulnerability frames.
Stuns are a more present mechanic from various items and enchants. Stuns prevent the target from acting, but are broken if they take direct damage.
💍1.21.5 Heirloom FAQ
📗Overview
As a quick overview for anyone unfamiliar - Heirlooms are our system for carrying items between maps. You can register 3 Heirlooms, which must be equipment or a spawn egg. To retrieve an Heirloom on the next map, you need an item of the same type, e.g., a Diamond Helmet to retrieve a Diamond Helmet. Valor and Netherite Armors require Diamond Armor, while custom helmets require the same type as the original helmet.
Nothing is changing with the core Heirloom system this map, but the many systemic changes could affect Heirloomed items.
To that effect, the Heirloom Conversion Rules listed in the next section will be followed when an Heirloom from this map is retrieved next map.
These rules are intended to be as fair as possible, so please read them and any relevant changelog posts which may affect your Heirlooms.
➡️Heirloom Conversion Rules
Heirlooms which can hold other items, such as Paradigm of Envy helmets and Deep Pockets leggings, will be emptied.
Each armor piece now only has 4 sockets. Socketed Heirlooms will be unsocketed, with the gems returned to resocket as desired.
Some enchants are reworked and/or renamed. These enchants will be retained, and renamed in-place if applicable.
Some over-leveled vanilla enchants have been split into new enchants. The vanilla enchants will be reduced to the vanilla max level, and you will receive a book with the new enchantment, which can be applied at the Arcanum to replace the vanilla one if desired.
Ex: When retrieving boots that had Feather Falling V, you will receive them with Feather Falling IV and a free Ground Pound book.
Some enchants have been removed. Heirlooms containing these enchants will lose them, and you will receive 5 Crusted Runes per-level per-enchant removed.
Ex: When retrieving a bow that had Point Blank III, you will receive it without Point Blank and 15 free Crusted Runes.
Some enchants have had their max level reduced. In each case, the new max level is as powerful as the old one, so these will be reduced to the new max level in-place.
Ex: When retrieving a hoe that had Green Thumb III, you will receive it with Green Thumb II.
Executioner has been reduced to a max level of 1 and changed categories from damage to loot. To prevent category conflicts, it will be extracted to a book, which can be applied to overwrite its old loot category enchant if desired.
Ex: When retrieving an Executioner III, Looting III axe, you will receive it without Executioner, but with an Executioner book.
Karru'Val now comes with a mythical damage enchantment which competes with Power and Sniper. To prevent category conflicts, these enchants will be extracted.
Ex: When retrieving a Power V Karru'Val, you will receive it without Power, but with its new mythical enchantment and with a free Power V book.
The Valor Armor sets have been reshaped. Heirloomed Valor armor pieces will use the following rules:
Legacy Ethereal pieces will be converted to modern Ethereal.
Huntsman pieces will be converted to Umbral.
Regardless of the automatic conversions above, each Heirloomed Valor Armor piece can be converted once to a modern Valor Armor set if desired using /convert_heirloomed_valor_armor.
Ex: Huntsman helmets will automatically convert to Umbral helmets, but if desired, you can then convert it to an Abyssal Helmet using /convert_heirloomed_valor_armor abyssal.
